Soft Syne (imho) should be described as
"the oscillator responds to a external reset pulse only when that pulse
arrives within a small (perhaps adjustable) window of time
BEFORE the internal reset pulse

I agree, Ian. There's one or two things in it which seem distinctly
dubious:
"In Soft Sync, rather than resetting to zero, the wave is inverted;
that is, its direction is reversed."
Inversion isn't the same as reversing the wave's direction. Imagine a
sine wave that has just gone 'over the top' and is beginning to head
back down towards zero. Reversing it would make it start to climb
back towards its maximum value. Inverting it would make it close to
its maximum negative value, heading up towards zero.
