It was of its time. They did their best with what they had available.  
A 100Hz update rate was considered adequate. The Waldorf Wave barely  
managed 60Hz.
Anyway, the matrix modulation was very flexible and powerful, even if  
they didn't have a good enough processor to run it at higher speeds.

More controversially, I read online recently that the Andromeda A6  
has a modulation update rate of 100Hz. If that's true (and I'm not  
assuming it is until I get more proof) then that would be a much more  
questionable decision.
