No difference from the point of view of the circuit being powered, 
but it is always worth reading the data sheet - the data sheet from 
the specific manufacturer, that is - if you want to know how a 
regulator will behave under a short circuit, for example.
(Hint: if unspecified, they are likely to behave "badly".)
