[sdiy] Capacitor packaging

I have a couple of random questions regarding capacitors please.

1. While sourcing parts and building other kits, I've noticed that ceramic
capacitors come in a few different packages now; from the old round reddish
package to square plastic, and what seems to be a hard shiny dipped package.
Is there an advantage to one package over another? To be clear, I'm not
asking about how to choose a capacitor type, but if the packaging makes any
difference.

2. I have a project which calls for a "low leakage" electrolytic capacitor.
I am unfamiliar with this specification. How to I ensure I get the proper
capacitor?

Thanks everyone.

David
