[sdiy] Roland Filters / IR3R05

thats what i was afraid of.
i was talking to the guy who sells replacement chips for the Juno 106 (he makes them out of Surface mount ota's i guess) and he said that Roland actually buys them from him for their service centers! which i guess means it is too much trouble for them to do it themselves.
i wonder if the info on what is inside th IR3r05 chip is just lost forever, buried in some file cabinet somewhere! so sad the amount of SYNTH history that is going to be lost :(
anyway thanks for your help

If they can stick more stuff on the chip (including a resonance OTA and VCA that weren't in the IR3109), it makes the synth cheaper at the expense of versatility. And since they're not selling the chips for individual use, they don't have to tell anyone how it works or even what inputs it's expecting. It looks functionally similar to the 80017, but if you want anything more specific than that you're probably SOL.

>>
>> well i now have a big stack of schematics and data piled all around me. (another new tangent to follow)
>>
>> the only roland filters which seem to still be a complete mystery as to what is inside of them are the
>> IR3R05 chips...with the IR3109 there is a lot of info out there and you can at least TRY to use regular ota's to simulate the structure.
>>
>> but the IR3R05...well there is nothing.

>>
>> i cant find any diagrams or notes in the jx8p manual. now maybe a different roland manual gives the same sort of internal layout that the jupiter manual gives for the IR3109 but so far, no luck.
