Indeed! That's how I found out about them!

I think that synth DIY often works this way--even if you don't want to build 
the specific project, there's something in the schematic or build of 
materials that leads you to something that you *do* want to use.

Electronics Goldmine is amazing--between them and All Electronics, I'm a 
happy builder. Also, their sale on Panasonic rotary encoders:

...deserves mention. These are of incredibly cheap manufacture (the pins 
actually seem to be some sort of foil that comes apart with even minimal 
breadboard stress), but they work very well. With a push switch, even.

(Disclaimer: I have no financial interest in either of the companies 
mentioned above, apart from my abhorrence of paying more than $.25 for a 
potentiometer or $.50 for a knob.)
