I second your comments on the rotary switch.  My goodness, what were 
the designers thinking - military applications?  I started with a 
round knob and gave up - I just wasn't strong enough to turn 
it!  It's OK with a flat knob, but just barely. Let me know if you 
ever find a better knob as I'd like to replace mine as well.  - Dave
