i dont get it.  i thought the whole point of presenting these papers was to further the future of audio. if AES is an organization with Dues, and rental costs for booths at their shows, then you would think part of their budget would go to furthering research into new audio information.

lets take the bob moog thing for example. he was basically spreading the idea of voltage controlled electronic insturments to many people who had never made them before right? So even if his paper did drum up some interest in his specific company, it would seem to me that AES would have been jumping all over that paper. instead, they charged him to deliver it.



in electronotes Bernie used to reference all kinds of other
groundbreaking reports, all of whose writers would have had to pay to
further audio research.

it seems backwards to me.

and as i said, at 20 a paper for non members and 5 each for members, plus 100 dollars a year dues, you would think that would cover the cost of publishing one book a year.

i have actually thought about joining AES but this sort of makes me re-consider.

not trying to upset anyone, just dont get it.
