the regular Arduino has 6 10-bit 0-5v analogue inputs. other
varieties have more. the new Arduino Mega has... 16 analogue inputs,
not to mention 56 digital pins and 4 hardware UARTs (gulp).
then slave up a TLV5610 for 8 analogue outputs.
(not that i'm advising the Ard for any particular reasons other than
it's a great way in to microcontrollers and i've had success with the
platform.)
