[sdiy] modular/softsynth interface [was: Synth UI]

Kyle,

I'm thinking a bit more clearly now and may be able to explain...

>From Modular:
Audio signals to be processed by the softsynth
CV to be converted to MIDI most likely to control parameters of the softsynth

>From Softsynth:
Audio signals to be processed by Analog modules
MIDI to be converted to CV to control Analog modules

I suppose a stupid question is: Do things like ADSR envelopes generated by a softsynth come out as a MIDI signal or is it just an internal thing that has nothing to do with MIDI?

I confess that I don't know as much about the MIDI protocol as I probably should.

Is it some kind of system feedback you're looking for? The MIDI box is more of two one way streets in each direction, less a bidirectional path, so far as I can tell at least.

I'm going to build one once my modular's up and running, as it would act as the best of both worlds, analog sound and digital control (or perhaps 'orchestration' is a better term, what with triggering of analog envelopes etc.).
