[sdiy] Synth UI [was: Modular - sound or song]

Hey all,
Completely unrelated... or maybe only tangentally related to the topic at hand, but has anyone made a module that can interface with a computer and allow a software synth to be integrated with an analog modular?
Bear with me here...
I guess the best way I can think to describe it would be a MIDI to CV that went both ways... but not quite... 
something where you can take a CV from the analog and assign it to control a parameter in the digital whatever on the computer. and then have control and audio signals from the software come out and control or be modulated by the analog synth.
Does anyone understand that? Am I making any sort of sense here?
