Paul,
Yup, consider myself trapped.
Though I suppose to be perfectly fair and honest, the perfect UI is completely dependent on who you're asking. Some people prefer the wee little LCD screen and the minimal knobs (god only knows why), and others prefer a MOTM wall of knobs and switches and a forest of patch cords.
A debate on this could probably go on and on (and from the looks of things, probably will) until someone suggests a UI that involves voice control and a holodeck. Not to mention a kinda yellowish skinned android....
