I'm going to be equally controversial... I can drive just fine, but put me in one of those arcade racing games and I'm fraked because I can't feel the road. Likewise, I can do the software synths with little trouble, but I get bogged down in the damn menus. There's nothing to touch. Sure, I could probably get some MIDI device with lots of knobs on it and assign them to the various knobs on the soft synth but that takes a hell of a lot of time. I feel like the software stunts my creativity. Even the modular software synths like Synfactory. It's just not the same. I dunno, maybe it's just because I didn't grow up with a computer.
