at least in the context of whether vintage VCOs sound "better" than
modern analogue, digital, or even software oscillators, a good amount
of blind testing etc has been done on the AH list, by Ken Elhardt
amongst others.
the conclusion is always that there isn't much audible difference in
the sound of oscillators.
now when it comes to tracking and pitch wrt temperature and all that,
they are somewhat different!
