[sdiy] getting 16 volts AC? and does DC ruin AC circuits?

Yes, it sounds like 2 halfwave supplies. 12 volt regs are why it needs the 16 VAC input, they
need several volts of headroom. It might just work like magic by using the correct AC adapter.
