[sdiy] getting 16 volts AC? and does DC ruin AC circuits?

as it has both a negative and a positive 12 volt regulator and NO transformer, i am assuming it makes a dual supply from the AC source.-

i told the person who owns it to order a peavy adapter for 15 bucks from ebay. i think i might invest in one for my own future use as well (ac adapters are always good to have around)

i only hope he doesnt try to blame me for any damage he may have done to the unit!
