There are some pretty small PCB mount pots.  One could probably design a
board and panel layout that were pretty small, and just have the one module
in your system which has an array of little bitty knobs -- but just for the
individual band gains, not for the other knobs -- that might look pretty
cool.  I've been toying with the idea of an attenuator patch matrix
(basically a grid of pots) which would be more or less the same idea.
