[sdiy] PCB size for euro-rack format

Hi,

Thanks for the helpful replies about this (and ignoring the troll ;)

I will make the PCB 100mm x <160mm then. Should be no problem to get <
160mm - a quick try last night with the auto-placer on a 105x120mm board
fitted all the components with lots of space to spare (the joys of SMD!)

Presumably mounting hole positioning is not critical as a bracket can be
made up as necessary. Or are there standards for this kind of thing? I
plan to have 6x M3 mounting holes - 1 in each corner, and a further 2 on
the long edges, 40mm down from the panel end. So the panel could be
mounted either 'deep' or 'wide' using the appropriate 4 holes.

By the way, regarding this comment of Laurie's:

Not quite the same 'printable' panel space - the Doepfer docs say their
front panels are actually 128.5mm high as they fit within a rim of the
mounting rails. The Blacet modules I have here have panels exactly 3U
(133.4mm) high.
