It's something I actually considered.  I was looking inside my old
1989 era ART SGE effects unit to see if I could saw off the power
supply part of the PCB because I thought the SGE wasn't working
correctly (channel gone out).  But after testing it out for two days,
it's just fine, so I'm glad I didn't gut it.  In fact the reverb on
the SGE sounds so good and the thing does more than today's
processors, I couldn't bring myself to sell it as I originally wanted
to do.  They don't make them like that anymore.
