I placed an order over $200 that qualifies for free Fed Ex priority shipping
including duties and customs fee's. Order arrived the next day with $122 of
brokerage and taxes. After arguing with a Fed Ex brokerage officier that I
should not be charged these rates he went ahead and just billed Mouser the
entire $122 (even thou approx $40 of that cost were the taxes I was prepared
to pay)... I contacted Mouser and there Canadian sales rep was a huge help
and said not to worry about it and if there accounting department brings it
up she may have to charge me the $40 odd dollars in taxes I owed.
I also asked about future orders and she said from now on I would be
responsible for the Fed Ex fee's, so I went back to shipping regular USPS
which is a $5 customs fee + taxes instead of the $50+ UPS and Fed Ex
charge..
Fed Ex charges based on the lines of product they have to go over I guess (I
don't really understand what the guy was trying to explain to me). My order
was for 63 different products and that was 53 lines over, Fed Ex says 10
lines are free... So from what I understand, if your order is over $200 you
can get free Fed Ex priority shipping including customs + duties as long as
it's not over 10 lines (which equals 10 different products)..
