[sdiy] Circuit Boards / kits

For the past year I've been building all my (FRAC) modules so that they
are no more than 2" deep. I'm hoping to someday have a nice thin
"suitcase" modular.

I mount the board parallel to the front panel, usually on 1" risers. So
when I make something that is 1"x6", it forces me to make the front
panel 6" wide. In that case I usually combine two modules (like the CGS
Gated Comparator with the CGS Quad Logic, both of which are 1" x 6"
boards)

So for this reason, I like the boards to be more square than not.
Ideally the max size would be [4.25" x 3"] or [4.25" x 4.5"] or [4.25" x
6"] (4.25" being the max height within the standard FRAC cage)

Let's say I was going to make circuit boards and/or kits
available to the DIY community.

Would you rather see minimalist circuits that favor low cost
and moderate performance...

...or cirucits with high performance but higher parts count / cost

What form factor would you prefer ?

I'd like your opinions. Reply on list, it would probably be a fun topic
for everyone...
