Paul,
The board size limitation is only for Devices/Packages. You can lay Traces and Vias (and drill holes, etc) outside that area.
I've done bigger boards by laying out the main elements of the circuit i.e. power supply, VCA, VCO, etc. as individual boards, exporting each board as an EPS, then sticking them all back together in a graphics app.
There's also a few ways of dealing with off-board components that might save you some space.
None of these are simple solutions - but it might be a start.
