OK.
I built Ray's quantizer according to specification.
http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/analogsynth/VOLTAGEQUANTIZER/VOLTAGEQUANTIZER.php
But i have never used a quantizer before so i am not sure if what i am hearing is correct. I suppose I thought i would hear more chains of 12 notes...but lets say i put in my wogglebug (smooth out) which is basically a fluctuating voltage...or my sample and hold fed from noise at medium speed...well i guess i expected the quantizer to play strings of lots of in tune notes.
instead it seems to play 3 or 4 notes. and they ARE in tune with each other but they are repetitive as hell and get annoying quick (Much more quickly than the sample and hold)
i am not sure how to get the INITIAL VOLTAGE knob to properly interact with what i put in.
and with a sequencer (and maybe its because rays is only 3 octaves and my seq goes beyond that) but once again i am just not getting stuff OUT of the quantizer that has a much complexity as what goes IN.
maybe this is a matter of calibration.
ANY TIPS ON good sources for quantizing or on the kind of results i should be expecting would be MUCH appreciated.
i feel a little lost. i did want it to make simple melodies, but not so simple that it is just 2 notes going back and forth. one thing, is there a way i could level shift my CV source going IN so it was less than the 5 volt maximum (which would give me more room to go up or down)
thank you so much for any help!
