My Chroma has the foam rot, too. I've recently been ordering some
foam for another project.

Here are two kinds of foam:

The harder polyethylene foam used in the corners of the Chroma case:

It's quite cheap at $16.84 for a black quarter sheet. 24" x 54" x 1"
2.3 PCF (pounds/cubic foot) density

The softer polyurethane packing foam I recently ordered for my Chroma
case:
http://www.foamdistributing.com/products/charcoalr.html
It's $25 for a full sheet, 80" x 72" x 1" 1.3 PCF. To ship the foam
sheet, they roll it up, put it in a plastic bag and suck all of the
air out of it. The box was about 10" x 10" x 24".
After receiving a sheet of this foam, I think you may need a denser
foam. The Chroma touches this foam with a lot of surface area so it
might be fine. I don't have the old foam to compare it to. I still
have to de-gunk my Chroma.

Hmm... Anvil made the original Chroma case. Here is the current
Anvil spec:

Ah Ha, They are using 2.0 PCF and 3.8 PCF so my gut feeling that the
1.3 PCF was a little soft is right. Also Anvil is using polyester
foam. Time for more net searches...

Hope this helps.
Robert
