What does it do? Does the platter motor "go crazy" and increase speed until
it throws the stylus out of the groove? My SL-5200 did that when I got it
secondhand years ago. You need to remove the motor assy and reflow any
cracked solder you find....especially the tachometer sense coil. If that has
intermittant or no input back into the motor drive it doesn't know how fast
its going and will speed up in attempt to lock in at the right frequency.
Once I touched up the solder I never had another problem with it since.

 I kinda miss the SL-D2 the 5200 replaced...especially the traditional
tonearm lift near the tonearm pivot, but the high torque motor on the 5200
(same as on the 1200 DJ table) I really like. Its up to speed in a fraction
of a second.
