Much easier/cleaner/better to buy a prebuilt module such as a PowerOne off
ebay.

Search deeper, this discussion recurrs every 6 months or so.

Computer supplies are generally too noisy.  There are quiet enough switching
supplies to use for Synths, but there is some religious debate on this. :-)
