What makes me wonder whatever he did after that IC thing. What designs 
and contributions did he do? The only thing which comes up is this IC 
thing, and as fashinating that is, there is surely more to that guy than 
that. Something else must have happend, even if we may not consider it 
that major.

Engineering history is really great. Reading up on the Telestar satelite 
and the whole system design of it is really interesting. They had some 
great toys there and their modern equalent should be fashinating. What 
they did there was really the startup of the satellite buissness as we 
know it. It encompasses many fields which is still there but greatly 
improved. Heat and cold handling, solar panels and batteries, radiation 
problems, redundancy, reliability and wearout, tracking, transmitters 
and receivers, power budgets, telemetry, remote commands and related 
issues... it just goes on...
