[sdiy] +/- 5V voltage source schematic?

greetings,

i have been wanting to build a +/- 5V voltage source module that can
be used to offset a VCA, overdrive an input on a filter, that sort of
thing. the closest thing i've found is the Oakley Control PCB seen
here http://www.oakleysound.com/control.htm but it seems like i should
be able to build one from scratch, should be a pretty simple
circuit..? i'm a very confident builder but not so great with design.
don't know why this type of module isn't more common (or maybe it is)
because i'm always wanting it!

i don't care about having a clean, stable voltage because i like a
little drift or distortion. if anyone has a link to a schematic or can
describe a simple circuit, it'd be awesome. don't want to blow
anything up by tinkering myself too much.

thanks in advance!
daryl
