Aaron and All;
I use mplayer ==> Main site here http://www.mplayerhq.hu/

It does what it says it does on the box, and it will also re-encode
whatever it can play into other formats, using mencoder. It's a bit
"linuxy" to use (PC version is all command liney, but you can get
front ends to automate and gumbyfy some common tasks.

 I would write more, but I went to 4 sessions of films by and about
Jim Henson today, and have another 3 tomorrow. I'm a bit tuckered out.
Saw some great work that Jim & Co and Raymond Scott did today on the
big screen! It was quite amazing. The chap from the Henson Legacy told
me when I was chatting with him that Jim purchased a very early Moog
Modular before they were sold as "Systems" (custom set ups) and that
he was often in on the ground floor of music technology, although a
lot of it didn't end up on the mainstream shows.
 I'm not sure what the time period is exactly for that Moog point in
history and as above, too tired to look it up.
