Thanks again for all the suggestions. I will probably check out "home
despot" first and see if anything seems right.
Another option would be going to one of the local sheet metal shops,
who can work up a circular aluminum enclosure and lid from a CAD file.
Not cheap I would imagine, but then it would be exactly to my spec. A
friend of mine who uses AutoCAD for landscape architecture projects
suggested being able to help me make a drilling template for a
well-measured knob smiley face; it might be worth the extra effort to
have her design the whole disc shaped enclosure.
