Antti,

  hehe, I wouldn't say bad.
I mean, a 16 bit DAC is cheap enough and you could get a high enough  
sample rate that you could probably do it without much hassle and  
either have a wavetable or a simple up/down counter with a variable  
rate for each alloing you to go from up ramp to down ramp.

  I wouldn't say any idea was bad, just because it doesn't follow the  
rules :-)
