Cortex is what im doing my coding on preferably on a STM32 using
Eclipse, IARs tools for some reason has stop working for me!?
There are loads of Cortex and ARM7 manufacturers. But as usual hardware are useles no matter specs if there is no tools that work properly.
And that we have seen many times! Mainsteram players are LPC21xx,
SAM7, STM32.

The whole Gnu IDE tool chains comunity on ARM7/Cortex are way ahead
of dsPIC. Unfortunately STM32 dont have diy frendly DIP packages but
the devices are so cheap it's almost no idea to do a dedicated
PCB for the MCU.
