[sdiy] DB50XG soundcard, AK-4510-VC IC - what is it?

Hi all,

the Yamaha DB60XG daughterboard for PC waveblaster soundcards provides fx 
processing of external signals. It would be nice to use this board as a 
midiexpander, just like the Dan Lavine/Thomas Henry GMvoice, and having 
this external signal processing feature.

So two questions:

1) Is there an A/D converter on the DB60XG itself, so one could feed it 
with audio without using the soundblaser soundcard, or is the audio handed 
over digitaly to the daughterboard?

2) What is the AK-4510-VC IC? What does it do?

Any hint is very appreciated.
