Hi,
well I think a lot of the capacitors used in the older switch mode 
supplies are now needing to be changed.
using replacement caps rated at 105deg and that have low esr is a good idea.
I have had Atari supplies where changing the caps has got the supply 
working again.
but I have had supplies where the fault seems to be very hard to locate.
and Please be careful about the high voltages that can be present.
