I agree with Colin.
Pots aren't "sensitive" in the same way some other components are.  
I've got some kicking around on my workbench that I use with  
breadboard projects that I originally salvaged from dead equipment  
and since then they've had countless wires soldered onto them for one  
reason and another.
If the pots are rubbish, it's cos they're rubbish, not because you  
mistreated them when soldering.
