I used to run balanced power here as well... and God DIDN'T help me.   I was 
holding my electric guitar and tried to turn on the light...   Made a big 
fat blue spark from my finger and melted the high E-string off of my guitar

Needless to say:  My guitar amp is no longer connected to balanced power....
