The easier route would probably be a DC/DC converter if you already
have the DC somewhere or an open frame AC/DC if you don't. Have a
look at http://www.tracopower.com to get an idea of your options.
There are many more suppliers of these, this was just one where I did
know the link and had datasheets at hand. The AC/DC 12VA openframes
for PCB mount are about 1.5"x2.5"x1.0", BTW.
