[sdiy] special tightening tools?

Hi Dan!

I recommend getting hollow shaft nutdrivers with the glossiest thickest
chrome dunking available on the front face
of the driver, (the part closest to touching your front panel). I bough
a pair of beautiful precision sets from Xlite and
they were terrible as far as scratchiness factor!

Presently I am very happy with Sears Craftsman tools they sell them at
OSH too.
The metric ones are the ones I use all of the time with the Yellow 9mm
always for toggle switches, and the
Blue 10mm useful for all of the Alpha 16mm pots that I use, and then
there's the brown 12mm which is great for
larger 24mm pots and for banana nuts and some pushbuttons. There is a
larger one for 3/8 mounting hardware
like quarter inch phone jacks, and every once in a while you need a big
1/2 inch unit for rotary switches.

By the way you do not have to buy a whole set at Sears as you can
break up the set and take only the drivers
that you actually do need to the register (all the drivers have their
own bar codes).

Also to avoid stressing your artful panel try using washers under
everything you panel mount - so that the nut is
spinning against the washer instead of the panel, and tighten with the
panel of pots facing a wall (not the sky),
and of course, a light touch also helps ya!
