[sdiy] Alpha pots group buy

Yeah, I have looked at CTS but, as you said, they cost substantially more
than Alpha pots from Futurlec. Mouser also carries the 16mm pots I need -
but only in audio taper. WTF???? This has always been excruciatingly
frustrating.
There is also Potentiometers.com - who bought the "Mod Pot" line from
Allen-Bradley and have even more options than CTS - but you're into the
quantity issue again. As an aside: I think it would be absolutely wonderful
if you could buy the individual Mod Pot sub-assemblies and assemble them
yourself. *sigh*

This brings me to something I tried to send to the list three hours ago but
never went through:
>
>Is there a non-custom source for concentric-shaft pots and knobs? I'm
looking for dual 100k lin pots. I know Elma carries knobs, but they want
much larger quantities than I need. Of course, the knobs would be dependent
upon the pots, or vice-versa.

>I'm also looking for illuminated slide pots. I know where I can get some
N.O.S. ones, but that's not a good approach for a new product line. Here's a
picture of the type I'm looking for:

there is no manufacturer ID.

The quest continues...

-> As an aside, a company called CTS makes 24 mm pots under the title "stock
-> pots" and you can pick any shaft length or style. Indeed, the good folks
at
-> Digikey actually stick the shafts you request into the pot bodies before
-> shipping them. Unfortunately, they are somewhat more expensive than
Alpha

-> carries linear pots up to 500K.
->
-> I can find no other supplier for these pots other than "10,000 min" type
-> distributors, and even they only stock very limited selections. It makes
me
-> wonder how some of these companies actually sell their products! In my
-> estimation, the major drawback of this whole DIY experience is the
extreme
-> difficulty in sourcing parts.
