[sdiy] Small form-factor PSU challenge!

Can I recommend something called "Loctite Output 315" for glue-ing
transistors etc. to cases/heatsinks. It's a chemical marvel. You clamp the
transistor to the heatsink/case with some of the glue on it and as it dries
it forms a uniform 0.15mm insulating layer between the transistor and
heatsink/case. It has un-believable strength, makes an excellent thermal
bond and allows you to mount all your different semis on the same conducting
surface without any fear of shorts. G

I second that... It would be best to put the large face against the case,
but
the transistors would stick outside and they are at voltage (potential for
shorts). The long face would be next best... put some heatsink compound
on it.

The case should be fairly thick if you want to use it for a heatsink...
thin aluminum will not carry the heat for a long distance.
Even if you have a steel case, you would benefit from tying the PS chassis
to it.
