The only "solder in the eye" cases I have heard of, is when someone has been
scavaging components and tugged a wire loose while desoldering it, with the
wire jerking out & the solder going flying.
Fortunately I've always worn glasses - I say fortunately, because I once got
a splash of solder right across one lens doing just that.
