So far I used to replace batteries with a CR2032 coin cell, using a socket which I soldered on board. Where there was a NiCD, I generally place a diode and put a CR2032 Lithium instead. Problem is that the CR2032 seems to last only a few years... Also the use of a socket is not too safe as contact can go wrong and memory patches can get lost.
I'm thinking about getting the CR2477 1000mAh 3v Lithium battery as replacement, the one which also has the legs you can solder directly to the boards. In that case I'll go over all of my vintage synths and convert or replace the CR2032 with the CR2477 so I have a long lasting battery which won't require periodical replacement of batteries for at least 10-15 years.
What do you think ?
