[sdiy] which oscilloscope?

Scopes are an interesting one.. you can get a good Hameg Analogue 10MHz
scope in the UK for almost nothing (as 1000's went into schools/colleges)
and for SDIY purposes it would probably be fine. I used one for ages.
However, I was fortunate enough to be given a Tektronix TDS3052 500MHz
Digital and am now a snob and couldn't consider going back to the clunky old
thing I had. I really think that for hobbyist audio stuff it is best to buy
to a price because any scope would be adequate if used properly.. one thing
I would say is that a 'good' analogue scope is better than a 'bad' digital
one. Only go digital if you want to spend a bit more. George

If you can find a Tektronix 465 or 476 in good condition and
calibrated at a price you can afford, grab it! The trigger on
those scopes can't be beat and they have plenty of bandwidth
for SDIY and most embedded microprocessor work.
