[sdiy] which oscilloscope?

Hi,

I checked the archives but the last post was in 2006 and not totally
conclusive for my uses.

What oscilloscope would you recommend? To be honest I'm not sure what
I'll use it for but I frequently come
across projects I'd like to do what recommend one. Mainly synth-diy
stuff. Also have lots of older gear that
could use a tune-up I'm sure (though it appears it is debatable if a
oscilloscope is perfect for tuning VCO's).

All advice for new or good used units appreciated.
