thanks so much
thanks...really.
ok/ LONG EMAIL ALERT
let me first start by saying I to work 100% within the music industry. for the last ten years i have been making a living doing DAW instruction, home studio consulting/installations...etc in NYC...which has been what i think is a good way to make a living. BUT my wife has NEVER really thought of what i do as WORK capital W since i enjoy what i do, and since the toys i buy for work are also for play. and since i make my own hours and have no boss. (but does that color the money i earn a different shade of green?)
and my hobby with building synths is now starting to bring in some money as i am doing custom things for friends or the knowledge has expanded to where i can do simple repairs for my normal clients, etc. i have found that SDIY has not only become the thing i most want to do with all of my time, it has also taught me so much useful knowledge i can now apply to my "day" job of STUDIO guy.
my wife is also angry because i am doing a huge custom synth/FX thing that i wont get paid for till the very end. so she sees it as time that i am messing around at the bench, that she is not seeing money at the moment. (keep in mind the guy is paying for the parts..)
I think i will take some advice and get some sheets or maybe a tapestry to split the room in two. there is just far too much useful stuff to put into storage as my recording studio is ALSO in the bedroom. she thought she had a bunch of junk in the bedroom and that was BEFORE SDIY even came to town 15 months ago. seriously.
i think SDIY pushed my wife over the edge. she thought she had a handle on me and my not so serious career. and then SDIY threw all that out the window because suddenly i started filing our house with book after book after binder after binder after mouser order after mouser order and 15 months later she was married to someone very different. someone who is learning again every single day. and that is a mighty power. to be able to seriously start learning something entirely new to you at age 33. it excites you. it drives you. and it might be throwing her off a bit.
maybe i am over thinking this. i tend to do that.
anyway..good night all...back to trying to understand the intricacies of IAN's T/G/T/SH ....................
someday someday i hope to own a home or at least rent one. and then i could put all this in a basement.
