[sdiy] JH Frequency shifter and patch cables

Two questions:

First, in the JH-FS1A panel connections document, it calls for shielded
cable for some connections. The variety of cable choices is a bit
overwhelming. What type of cable does anyone recommend? Gauge? 22? 24?
something else?

I've looked at the Alpha wire, Mouser #602-2461C-1000 for the 2 conductor
but have no clue if it will work well.

Also, I'd rather not have to buy a 100 foot roll as I will never use a
fraction of it. Is there a source for shorter lengths like 10 feet?

Second, I need to make some 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch patch cables and pre-made
are quite expensive. What kind of cable makes for the best patch cables?
John Blacet has a patch cable kit with flexible coax. If I use coax, what
impedance should I go for? What gauge? Can I use the same stuff for the
patch cables as I use for the JH-FS1A?

Thanks.
David
