[sdiy] Velocity/Position sensing

I would definitely Google a guy named Max Matthews.

He has been working on such devices since the 1950's.

His first XY drum was sheets of linen with simple wires running horz.  
and vert.

The current version uses radio batons and reads XY and Z for each of  
two batons.

MIDI out I think.
