Maybe we are misunderstanding each other here?

- The timing of the sample playback will be determined by the 
gate/trigger/note on/note off.
- The actual point in the sample at which it starts playing is set by 
the sample start point CV.
- If the gate is held on then the point at which the sample stops 
playing is determined by the sample end point CV.
- But if the gate is released then at that point the sample stops 
playing (after release phase).

So all I was saying is there is no need to sync the sample playback 
_length_ to the tempo as this more easily achieved just by making the 
gate signal the desired length.
