A sequencer where the output voltage is linearly related to the
pot angle would be usable. Not ideal, but usable. Especially if
you reduced the range to, for example, 1~2 V instead of 0~5 V or
whatever it is by default. You could do that with a voltage
divider and a non-inverting mixer.

An exponential amplifier would be a more general solution.
