[sdiy] Driving LEDs

Hi there,

When I want to add an LED indicator on a CV output, I usually add an
NPN with a resistor devider in front of it. Then the LED from the +
rail to the collector and a resistor from the emitter to GND. I
recently opened up a Buchla 255 and was shocked to see an LED driven
simply by sending the signal through a 10k, from there there's a 62k
to +15 and the LED down to GND. This is hanging off the output of an
LF353, before the 220 ohm resistor on the output.

Is there some reason I shouldn't use this technique every time I want
to add an LED on a CV output? open to discussion...

Mark
